With digital photography you can immediately see what you shoot, which means you can just shoot at random until you get it right. Do it with film and it will cost you a fortune! By learning photography basics you will quickly gain enough confidence to shoot film without the urge to chimp. You will shoot less but end up with better photos. Film cameras are simple yet well engineered machines. Learn how to load film and choose settings suitable for that film, available light and subject.
The workshop is 4 hours long and split into 3 parts.
We start off by having a chat about your photography knowledge and the reasons why you want to shoot film.
First Part: 2 hrs.
This 1st part will be dedicated to learning your camera, different films, aperture, shutter speed and light metering for film, also based on the equipment you own.
Second Part: Open
You go out to shoot the x2 complimentary rolls. You can shoot these rolls over any period but the quicker you do so the quicker you get to start enjoying film photography. After you shoot them both, hand them in for developing and with in a few days you will receive high res tiff files to view at your own time.
**I highly recommend you shoot either street or land scrapes for this workshop. Subjects such as portraits, macro and fashion require a deeper photography knowledge that is not covered in this workshop.
Third Part: 2 hrs.
During the third part we will go through both rolls and discuss them in detail. We will check exposure, composition and what could be done to improve each shot. We will also check for problems with your equipment. This session can be done in person or via Skype.
